Leeds Could Fix Big Issue With Clinical £20m Finisher

Leeds United continue to be linked with a man certain to ease the biggest issue emerging from Elland Road of late…

Who are Leeds United signing this summer?

Having already welcomed Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow to the club this summer, it could be argued that Daniel Farke has sufficiently bolstered a weak backline.

It seems like the German clearly feels that way too, given how reports are detailing their new pursuit of Swansea City striker Joel Piroe.

Football insider has offered a fresh update, suggesting that it will take a sum of around £20m to tempt the Welsh outfit to part with their star man, who has just one year left on his deal at The Swansea.com Stadium.

They are set to battle with a host of Championship clubs for his signature.

How good is Joel Piroe?

Whilst acquiring the Dutchman would mark outstanding business in its own right, the current injury crisis plaguing Farke's front line is a point of serious concern that makes this move even more important.

Journalist Graham Smyth wrote on Twitter: "Bamford (hamstring) and Rutter (core muscle injury) now doubtful for Cardiff but Farke not yet certain of timescale."

To be without these key attackers for the opening day of the new campaign will be a worry for the new boss, which he will seek to ease before that deadline in just under a week.

Although both struggled last season in the Premier League, at present this would leave them with only youth team strikers to occupy such a role, or else be forced to play someone out of position.

That is where Piroe would come in as a star above all else, likely even the injured pair.

After all, the 23-year-old has shone ever since trading his homeland for England, scoring 22 goals and assisting six in his debut year, before posting a further 21 goal contributions in the league just last season.

Such form unsurprisingly has drawn praise, with Chair of the Swansea City AFC Foundation Andrew Rhodes having predicted something "special" from their new frontman. That has since come to fruition.

Russell Martin would later outline this, detailing his lethal scoring touch as a fine asset in April 2022: "If you wanted it to fall to anyone, it is him, he is so clinical with both feet, and he is a great technician. But the most important thing he has is the right mentality when he gets around the goal.

“He shows composure, he is calm, and he just focuses on his technique, something that all top strikers possess."

patrick-bamford-1

Whilst Bamford might have scored 16 during his last Championship campaign, and Rutter boasts immense potential that could thrive under less pressure their new level brings, Piroe would still represent a far more reliable source of goals given he has shone for two consecutive years now.

The former proved himself far from the requisite level last campaign in the top flight, missing 13 big chances as they fell to the drop. Meanwhile, the Frenchman would start just once following his club-record switch in January.

For just £20m, the young finisher would take the goalscoring burden off both of these struggling forwards, hopefully to fire Farke to an instant promotion.

Dyche Eyeing Everton Move For £17m "Handful"

Everton remain interested in Salernitana forward Boulaye Dia, despite the recent news of an agreed deal with Sporting Lisbon to sign 19-year-old striker Youssef Chermiti.

Is Boulaye Dia signing for Everton?

That's according to Italian outlet La Citta di Salerno – via Sport Witness – who believe that even though Dia has shown a willingness to remain with the Serie A side for at least one more season, he could be charmed by the Toffees, who can offer him a starring role in the Premier League.

It was previously claimed that Sean Dyche's outfit had offered €18-20m (£15-17m) plus Neal Maupay for the Senegalese striker, though negotiations do not appear to have entered the culminating phase.

Read the latest Everton transfer news HERE…

Everton survived relegation from the top-flight by the skin of their teeth last season, and with Wolverhampton Wanderers the only side to score fewer goals than the Merseyside club's 34, owner Farhad Moshiri's present focus on the frontline this window is more than rational.

Who is Boulaye Dia?

Everton's endeavours were certainly hampered by the squad's inefficacy in front of goal; this year, Dyche will be determined to eradicate the past maladies and chart a course for success.

One of the few bright sparks was Alex Iwobi, who looked reformed and revitalised in his new role as a central playmaker, as opposed to his previous deployment as a winger.

Across his first three Premier League campaigns on Merseyside, Iwobi mustered just four goals and five assists from 83 appearances; this term, despite Everton's woes, the 27-year-old scored twice and produced eight assists in the Premier League.

As per FBref, the 63-cap Nigerian ranks among the top 14% of midfielders across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for assists, the top 15% for progressive carries and the top 14% for successful take-ons per 90.

boulaye-dia-everton-transfer-premier-league

By signing Dia and deploying him in front of the £120k-per-week Iwobi, a continuous flow of offensive energy would rekindle the Goodison Park side's attacking impetus, with the 26-year-old scoring 16 goals and supplying six assists in the Serie A last season.

Described as a "handful" by journalist Josh Bunting, Dia ranks among the top 16% of forwards for goals despite ranking among the bottom 6% for total shots per 90, which highlights his clinical ability, something that Iwobi could latch onto as he channels his creativity into the former Villarreal striker's lane.

The marksman only penned a permanent deal with Salernitana this summer, for a reported €12m (£10m), after dazzling on loan, but that has not stopped Dyche from advancing negotiations.

With his ability to find the back of the net at ease an attribute that has been sorely missed on the blue half of Merseyside in recent years, Dia could be a first-rate acquisition to send Goodison Park into cacophonous cheer once again.

And with Iwobi pulling the strings behind him, driving into the danger area and serving opportunities into Dia's path on a silver platter, the verve of this Everton team might just return.

Aston Villa Could Unlock Buendia By Signing £40m Speedster

Aston Villa could continue their strong feat in the transfer window with a move for Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson.

The Villans have been linked to the playmaker for some time, however, Unai Emery and Monchi could finally secure the talent on the back of three impressive deals.

Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby have already made the switch to Villa Park, with more activity anticipated this summer.

Who wants to buy Brennan Johnson?

As reported by the Daily Mail earlier this month, both Villa and Brentford have an eye on the Welshman, who is valued at around £40m by Forest.

The 22-year-old has been of interest to the Midlands side since May, when FootballTransfers named the Villans as a potential suitor for him in the summer.

The Garibaldi have remained reluctant to sell their star man, however as per the Daily Mail’s report, the club may be forced to accept an offer to ease Financial Fair Play (FFP) concerns.

How good is Brennan Johnson?

Rising through the academy at the City Ground, the Nottingham-born gem has found his feet in recent years, cementing himself as one of the club’s key players.

A loan spell at Lincoln City in the 2020/21 season brought the youngster's talent to light, where he scored ten goals and assisted 12 in 40 League One appearances.

From there, the intricate forward hasn’t looked back, playing a pivotal role in Forest’s promotion to the Premier League in 2022, where he scored 16 goals and registered nine assists, as well as scoring twice in the play-offs, via Transfermarkt.

Johnson has truly worked his way through the ranks, with his form failing to slow down in the top tier, where he netted eight goals for Steve Cooper’s side in his debut term in the Premier League.

While the Welshman's form comes as a thing to be celebrated by Forest, it’s also gathered the type of attention that the club feared, with fellow side’s hoping to pry the 22-year-old away from Nottingham.

Brennan Johnson

For Villa, Johnson could become a valued member of Emery’s squad, adding individual brilliance and providing a fresh outlet for others in the side.

Like the Wales international, Emiliano Buendia shone in the Championship, however, has struggled to transfer his form to the Premier League.

Lauded as “unbelievable” by national team manager Robert Page, the Villa target could prove to be the key to unlocking the Argentine’s past form in the Midlands, through his lively nature in attack.

The 26-year-old secured 17 assists in the Championship before making the switch to Villa Park, highlighting just how efficient he can be as a playmaker.

Clocking the second-fastest top speed in the league last season at 36.70 km/h, via OptaJoe, Johnson could be the desired presence in the side to give Buendia a deadly outlet to target in the final third.

In the 2020/21 Championship campaign, the former Norwich sensation averaged 3.31 key passes and 0.41 through balls per 90, via FBref, highlighting just how deadly he could be if given a pace-ridden spark like Johnson to release.

Emery could add a host of threats to his front line by equipping the Forest star in his side, in a move that could benefit the club on multiple dimensions.

McCarthy aces 174 chase, Stars fall to sixth successive loss

Andre Fletcher and Marlon Samuels blitzed fifties to lead St. Lucia Stars to 173, but couldn’t prevent Jamaica Tallawahs from completing the fourth-highest successful chase in CPL history

The Report by Nikhil Kalro16-Aug-2017
Scorecard and ball-by-ball detailsAndre Fletcher struck seven fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 84•Ashley Allen – CPL T20 / Getty

For the first 37 overs of the game, St Lucia Stars were ahead and cruising. Then came that one over everyone talks about in this format. With the Tallawahs requiring 40 off three overs in their chase of 174, Mitchell McClenaghan conceded 20 runs, and the Stars’ hopes of their first win of the tournament faded into their sixth successive loss. It was also the fourth-highest successful chase in tournament history.Andre McCarthy recovered quickly from a run-out that led to Rovman Powell leaving the field like he was ready for a locker showdown, and struck a match-winning unbeaten 61 off 37 balls to lead the Tallawahs to a five-wicket win with two balls to spare. It wouldn’t be much solace for the Stars, but they put on a much-improved performance with the bat. Andre Fletcher and Marlon Samuels blitzed fifties to lead them to 173, their highest score of the tournament.Pace off the ballThe Darren Sammy National Stadium was hit by passing showers just before the start. On a slow surface, that moisture may have just done enough to negate the penetration of seam-up deliveries – a burst of rain will only quicken a pitch up slightly, not change its nature. That should have been an indication for the Tallawahs’ bowlers to take pace off the ball.It took a few heaves and punches for the bowlers to switch to offcutters. It worked right away, an offcutter from Mohammad Sami took the inside edge of Johnson Charles and uprooted leg stump. The mode of operation didn’t change much thereafter. The unmatched utility of boundaries in T20sFletcher isn’t known for his ability to find gaps for singles. He is, however, an efficient boundary-hitter. The value of boundaries in T20s is high, but the utility of boundaries without consuming too many dot balls is significantly higher. In his 53-ball innings, he struck 24 singles and played 13 dots, effectively 24 runs off 37 balls. He also hammered 11 boundaries, seven fours and a six, almost as many as the number of dot balls he faced. That meant he finished with 84 off 53 balls with a strike-rate of 158.49. A T20 masterclass beckoned if he could convert a few more of those dots into singles.Keep calm and bat onWhen McCarthy stabbed a ball towards extra cover, called for two and didn’t respond, the Tallawahs were reeling. They needed 81 runs off 46 balls with six wickets in hand, and Powell was fuming all the way off the field. For McCarthy, that could have been a scarring emotional blow.Instead, he bided his time, found the boundary when he had to and delivered under duress. Imad Wasim also brought his experience and ability to a 45-run sixth-wicket stand that carried Tallawahs home. A few moments later, Powell was leaping onto McCarthy in joy.

Man City: Romano drops big Kyle Walker transfer update at Etihad

Manchester City fullback Kyle Walker could be "tempted by the possibility" of leaving the club this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 33-year-old has been at the club since 2017.

What is the latest news regarding Kyle Walker?

Walker is closing in on a move away from the Etihad this summer according to reports.

The Athletic are reporting that the England international has verbally agreed terms with German juggernauts Bayern Munich on a two-year deal. Whilst an agreement between the two sides has not been reached yet, the reported asking price from the current Champions League holders is in the region of £15m.

Current City boss Pep Guardiola has stated that he is determined to keep the fullback, citing his importance for the side and the qualities he brings to the team: "“Kyle is incredibly important for us. He has specific qualities that are so difficult to find out wide. I don’t know what’s going to happen, both clubs are in touch. We will fight for him like I’m sure Bayern will. I don’t know how it will finish.”

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

Walker has made 254 appearances for the Manchester club since his £50m move in the summer of 2017, registering six goals and 18 assists en route to winning 12 major honours with the club, including five Premier League titles and one Champions League.

There were also reports earlier in the window that Arsenal were interested in signing the former Tottenham Hotspur full-back, however, nothing ultimately materialised regarding that potential move.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Italian journalist Romano revealed that the 78-time-capped England international is "tempted" by the opportunity to join Bayern, with the German side's manager Thomas Tuchel "really pushing" to secure the deal: "Manchester City are really trying their best to keep Kyle Walker, but it's not an easy situation. Also for the player, I can guarantee to you that Walker is tempted by the possibility of joining Bayern Munich. It's a big chance, it's a big contract, and Thomas Tuchel is really pushing to have him."

How can Manchester City replace Kyle Walker?

The Citizens have two real options to replace the 33-year-old should he make the switch to Bavaria.

One option is to delve into the transfer market. The Manchester club are reportedly in talks with Bayern over French international defender Benjamin Pavard however they face stiff competition from local rivals Manchester United as well as Italian giants Juventus. The player is in the final 12 months of his contract at the club, and the German side do not want to lose the 27-year-old on a free transfer next summer so have placed a €30m price tag on the defender. Pavard is set for a reduced role next season following the arrival of Kim Min Jae and the potential arrival of Walker, so may push for a move for more regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2024, and due to both clubs wanting a respective player, a swap deal could be negotiated between the sides which could make City the favourites.

joao-cancelo-manchester-city-arsenal-transfer-gossip-edu-arteta-gabriel-jesus

Man City do also have a couple of potential in-house solutions as well. Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo could be reintroduced into the first-team setup following his six-month loan spell in Munich during the second half of last season following a fallout with boss Guardiola. The player has featured during the side's pre-season tour so far and has even registered an assist. Another in-house option could be giving young Rico Lewis increased minutes next season. The full-back made his mark at City last season, making 23 appearances in all competitions and playing his part in helping the club secure an illustrious treble. Referred to as the clubs "little Phillip Lahm" by Guardiola, the youngster may be ready for an increased role with greater responsibility next season should Walker depart this summer.

Nottingham Forest: Romano drops big "in the coming days" update

Nottingham Forest former loanee Dean Henderson 'will' return to the City Ground on a permanent basis this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Is Dean Henderson going to Nottingham Forest?

According to Telegraph Sport, Nottingham Forest are 'locked in talks' to try and bring Henderson back to the City Ground on a permanent deal following his loan spell at the club in 2022/23.

The report states that Henderson is their preferred goalkeeping target if a fee can be agreed between themselves and Manchester United while Wolverhampton Wanderers stopper Jose Sa is an alternative target.

Last term, £100k-a-week earner Henderson made 20 appearances for Nottingham Forest and managed to keep six clean sheets, as shown by Transfermarkt.

Manchester United are expected to strike a deal to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, which will then offset Henderson's exit according to talkSPORT, who claim on Twitter: "BREAKING: The deal to sign André Onana is now set to be sealed in the next 24 hours to allow him to join MUFC on their US tour. Dean Henderson is then expected to be sold to Nottingham Forest. – talkSPORT sources understand."

Evidence that Henderson could be set to exit Manchester United is further supported by the fact that the Red Devils are keen on bringing in Urawa Red Diamonds stopper Zion Suzuki, according to respected journalist Romano, who recently revealed on Twitter: "Manchester United are working on Zion Suzuki deal. Japanese goalkeeper is one of 3 options as backup GK and talks are now taking place on player side."

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano has indicated that Henderson's pending transfer to Nottingham Forest is close to being completed.

He stated: “For sure United will bring in a new backup goalkeeper because the intention is to let Dean Henderson leave for Nottingham Forest in the coming days.

"There is still a conversation between United and Forest on the final fee.

"But I think in the end Henderson will become a Nottingham Forest player and they will bring in a new backup goalkeeper.”

Who else are Nottingham Forest keen on bringing to the City Ground?

Nottingham Forest are fond of a transfer incoming at the City Ground and it wouldn't be a surprise to see a few more arrivals in the East Midlands before competitive action gets underway this campaign.

The Scottish Sun claim that Rangers full-back Borna Barisic could be on his way to Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £2 million after betting charges were brought against Harry Toffolo by the FA that are expected to result in a ban for the 27-year-old.

Burnley loanee Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

90min report that Nottingham Forest alongside Fulham are leading the chase to sign Manchester City youngster Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who enjoyed an excellent campaign for Burnley last term as they cruised to the Sky Bet Championship title.

Southampton striker Che Adams is a target for Nottingham Forest; however, the Tricky Trees will face competition from Everton, Burnley and Leeds United for the Scotland international, as per TEAMtalk.

His current employers are open to initiating a sale this window to avoid losing him on a free transfer when his contract runs out at St Mary's Stadium in 2024.

Sethi elected PCB chairman

Sethi, the only member in the Board of Governors to file nomination papers, was voted in unopposed

Umar Farooq09-Aug-2017The PCB’s new Board of Governors (BoG) has picked the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s direct nominee Najam Sethi as board chairman for the next three years. Sethi was unanimously elected from within the 10-member BoG as no other member of the BoG filed nomination papers for the post.Sethi’s chances of taking over as chairman were very high after he was named on the PCB’s BoG on July 8 by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif – who was later disqualified by the country’s Supreme Court – as one of two direct nominees along with Ariff Ejaz, a prominent corporate figure. According to the PCB constitution, the chairman has to be elected from among those persons on the BoG.Members present at the BoG meeting where Sethi was elected

Najam Sethi, Ariff Ejaz, Muzamil Hussain (WAPDA), Nauman Dar (HBL), Miftah Ismail (Sui Southern Gas), Mansoor Masood Khan (UBL), Murad Ismail (Quetta), Muhammad Numan Butt (Sialkot), Nadeem Ahmed (Lahore), Amjad Ali Khan (IPC, non-voting member). The FATA representative was not present at the meeting.

The previous three-year tenure ended when chairman Shaharyar Khan resigned, aged 83, citing personal and health reasons. Ejaz will be his replacement on the BoG, with representatives from the Lahore regions, Quetta, Sialkot, FATA, Peshawar, Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Among the other four members, Water and Power Development Authority and United Bank Limited will retain their seats while Habib Bank Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited have replaced Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and National Bank of Pakistan.”I want to thank the new board of governors who have elected me unanimously today,” Sethi said, after being elected. “It’s a big responsibility on me and with their cooperation we will move forward. Secondly, I want to thank Shaharyar Khan also. It was a very good journey along with him. Lots of people thought there will be a gulf between us, but it never happened and he was a gracious and wonderful man to work with.”There are challenges but the main target is to make domestic cricket much stronger and keep tapping into the talent. The other major issue is that our all hard work will go in vain if we are not able to bring international cricket back to the country. Moreover, I am disappointed with [Pakistan’s progress in] women’s cricket. There are few good ideas and we will look to implement some reforms. We have done a lot of work and doing much more to make this possible .. lots of people are disappointed and I request them to show some patience. There are security issues. One day we decide that a team will come and then something happens. Over the next 2-3 months you will hear some good announcements.”This is Sethi’s second term in charge after the long battle over the leadership of the PCB between Zaka Ashraf and Sethi, which ended in May 2014; there had been multiple leadership changes in the PCB, after Ashraf became the first elected PCB chairman in May 2013.The Islamabad High Court termed those elections “dubious”, and Sethi was put in charge by the government. Ashraf and Sethi were then alternately reappointed and sacked from the post several times, before Sethi eventually filed a written statement before the court that he will not contest elections for the chairman’s post.Sethi, however, remained on the PCB’s BoG and head of the Executive Committee (ExCo) to control cricket affairs in Pakistan. In that period, Sethi was involved in the day-to-day functioning of the PCB and became an influential board member with signing authority. Although the PCB did not reveal the ExCo’s functions, it is understood that the committee holds significant influence in the board.Apart from the ExCo, five other committees – cricket, domestic, HR, Audit, Game Development – were formed with the previous BoG members dissolved with immediate effect. The new committees will be formed with newly inducted members on the Board in due course though Sethi confirmed that the ExCo would disband once and for all during his term as chairman. The entire national coaching staff will remain in charge, he said, with physiotherapist Shaun Hayes the only member whose contract will not be renewed. He will be released with the PCB paying him his salary for the remaining three months of his current contract. The national selection committee led by Inzamam ul Haq will stay in place along with National Cricket Academy director Mudassar Nazar.Sethi, 69, a former caretaker chief minister of Punjab, comes from a journalism background. He has also been a driving force behind the Pakistan Super League.

Chelsea: Pochettino now has "advantage" over Arsenal for signing

Chelsea could have the 'advantage' to sign Ajax talent Mohammed Kudus this summer amid competition for his services from elsewhere, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Which clubs are keen on Mohammed Kudus?

Last week, The Independent claimed that Chelsea were in the driving seat to land Kudus from Ajax this summer despite competition from Arsenal to sign the Ghana international.

The report states that Chelsea have thus far put together a better package to entice Kudus to swap Amsterdam for London and he could move this window for a fee in the region of £40 million.

However, Brighton have agreed a fee for the midfielder, though it is still up in the air as its now down to the player to agree personal terms or opt to choose a potential different suitor, so it's not over yet.

Last term, Kudus put in some excellent performances for Ajax and finished the campaign with 18 goals and seven assists from 42 appearances across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

Football London have revealed that Chelsea 'sounded out' Ajax to gauge the current state of play surrounding Kudus and it is believed that personal terms are not going to be an issue due to the 23-year-old being open to taking on a new challenge in 2023/24.

As per Ajax Life via METRO, Ajax sporting director Sven Mislintat has commented on clubs circling for Kudus this summer, including the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, stating: "There are clubs that have informally enquired about him. I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world. Perhaps the interest in not as serious as everyone thinks."

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Brown claims he has been informed that Arsenal won't enter the market for another midfielder unless someone in that area leaves the Emirates Stadium.

Brown stated: "I don't think Arsenal are bidding here really, that might change depending what else happens in the squad, but I'm told that Arsenal are not moving for another midfielder unless somebody leaves. It doesn't seem like there is another club high in the bidding for him, so that might be advantage Chelsea."

What now for Chelsea?

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will continue his squad planning for the new campaign after already confirming the additions of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo and Diego Moreira, as per Transfermarkt.

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has agreed a £25 million move to Stamford Bridge and will provide competition between the sticks for Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to The Daily Mail.

Robert Sanchez

Monaco defender Axel Disasi is close to joining Chelsea for a fee in the region of £38.6 million as the Blues fended off competition from Newcastle United and Manchester United to secure the services of the France international, as per Sky Sports.

The Guardian report Dusan Vlahovic is being weighed up as a potential addition to the striking department and may be part of a swap deal that would see out-of-favour Chelsea frontman Romelu Lukaku head back to Serie A to join Juvenus.

Belgium international Lukaku also has the choice of moving to Saudi Arabia; however, he would prefer to stay in Europe for the foreseeable future.

Man United Transfer News: Offer Made For 6ft 5 Goalkeeper

Manchester United have reportedly made a formal offer to sign Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir this summer.

Are Man United signing another goalkeeper?

The Red Devils have already brought in Andre Onana from Inter Milan after David de Gea left Old Trafford following the expiration of his contract. Midfielder Mason Mount has also arrived from Chelsea, and Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund looks likely to be the next player to sign for Erik ten Hag’s side.

After securing the services of the Denmark international, though, it appears as if the club have some more work to do before the deadline closes on September 1.

Read The Latest Man United Transfer News HERE…

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that United’s focus will be on signing another new midfielder, although he did say that the club are still monitoring Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

“I mentioned in April that Man United sent their scouts multiple times to follow both Todibo and Disasi – they’re very attentive to French market.

“Todibo is still being monitored, and we’ll have to wait and see how Man United will act. The priority will be a midfielder for now, so there’s nothing imminent on Todibo.”

Another goalkeeper could also be on the agenda alongside a midfielder and defender, though, especially as Dean Henderson has continued to be linked with a return to Nottingham Forest.

Should that materialise, Ten Hag would be left with Tom Heaton and Matej Kovar as alternative options to Onana, something which may need to be addressed.

Reports last month claimed that an offer for Urawa Red Diamonds goalkeeper Zion Suzuki had been knocked back by the Japanese club. There were also rumours at the beginning of July over a United bid for Bayindir, and it looks as if the offer, or a new one, is on the table from Old Trafford chiefs.

Sport Witness relayed an update from CNN Turk regarding United and Bayindir, claiming the Red Devils have started official attempts to sign the 6ft 5 goalkeeper.

It is claimed that despite the goalkeeper having a cheap €6m release clause, a formal offer has been made by United, so those in Manchester may be looking to finalise a deal under that figure.

Who could leave Man United this summer?

There have been plenty of players linked with a move to Old Trafford, and it looks as if Ten Hag will have more than two new players through the door before the end of the month.

However, attentions could soon be on departures, with 13 players up for sale at the start of the summer. Reports suggested that the club were hopeful of raising as much as £100m by moving players on, something which has yet to come to fruition.

Henderson was named as one of the players who could be on the move, should an offer in the region of £20m arrive. If the Englishman does end up leaving on a permanent deal, then Bayindir, valued at €11m by Transfermarkt and a Turkey international, could prove to be a solid replacement, possibly on a cheap deal, making this a transfer to keep an eye on over the coming weeks.
