Harry Winks could leave Tottenham Hotspur this January…

According to The Times, the 25-year-old midfielder is keen to depart his boyhood club on loan in a bid to reignite his career, having played only 61 minutes in the Premier League this term.

He chose not to pursue an exit during the summer, despite interest from top-flight rivals Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton.

It’s thought that the Englishman is open to a temporary stint aboard in a desperate attempt to try and force his way back into Nuno Santo’s plans – he has been usurped by academy graduate Oliver Skipp so far this campaign.

Nuno isn’t the only manager to rarely utilise Winks as he only started nine of 15 league appearances last season, under former manager Jose Mourinho and caretaker boss Ryan Mason.

The £18m-rated ace was a regular for Mauricio Pochettino between 2017 and 2020, also becoming a mainstay in Gareth Southgate’s England squad but his lack of game time and consistency has seen him fall out of the reckoning, on both the domestic and international stage.

Once described as the “perfect” midfielder and compared to Andres Iniesta by the Argentine boss, Winks really would need to impress out on loan during the final six months of the season to stand a chance of getting back into Spurs’ starting lineup.

It isn’t just Skipp that he should be fearing.

The likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Dele Alli are all playing more frequently in the engine room, so you’re looking at him being fifth or sixth choice, and that’s even after the departure of Moussa Sissoko in the summer.

Having seen his transfer value drop in half since December 2019, Winks is certainly at a career crossroad.

The Times have previously described him as ‘stale’, whilst Lilywhites legend Graham Roberts dubbed him “an average player” to Football FanCast in the summer.

As per WhoScored, the Hotspur Way youth product has never managed above a 6.57 average rating in any Premier League campaign since 2016/17, which is hugely underwhelming and some way off the standard you’d expect, especially when you consider his involvement in Spurs reaching the top three in three successive seasons.

It’s time for Winks and Spurs to part ways this winter – sporting director Fabio Paratici must do all he can to shift him on in January.

One player who has been on Dean Smith’s radar for a while is Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

The midfielder is valued at £22.5m via Transfermarkt and has attracted plenty of suitors in the Premier League.

Villa were keen on McKennie over a month ago and now they are considering another bite of the cherry in January.

That’s according to The Sun who suggests that they could join Tottenham and West Ham in the race for the 23-year-old.

Lange could strike gold

Johan Lange and Christian Purslow’s plan to replace Grealish over the summer was a smart one. They brought in three players; Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings in a bid to replace the England international’s best qualities.

While McKennie is a different sort of threat, there are some underlying attributes that fit the bill.

A gifted box to box midfielder, he is tricky in possession of the ball and knows how to arrive late in the penalty area to score goals.

Whether it’s tackling, intercepting, acting as a supply line for his teammates or finding the net, McKennie has a lot going for him.

Last term, the Juve gem had a hand in seven Serie A goals while providing a stable foundation from a deep-lying position with 1.9 tackles per match in the Champions League a stand out statistic.

He is very much comparable to John McGinn, Villa’s current box to box maestro.

Although Smith doesn’t necessarily need a replacement, the thought of the two lining up alongside each other in central areas is an exciting one. After all, in the words of David Wagner, McKennie is an “outstanding talent.”

Also hailed as a “rock” by Andrea Pirlo, the midfielder is a player blessed with heaps of potential and has all of the required attributes to thrive in the Premier League.

He is strong, delicate in possession and can score goals. It’s easy to see why Lange could strike gold by luring him to the Midlands in January.

Jacob Oram, the New Zealand allrounder, has said he will pull out of the IPL if he does not recover from his Achilles tendon injury before the first-class championship game starting April 5.Oram was excluded from the New Zealand squad for the three-Test series against India after the selectors felt he had not yet regained complete match fitness. He played for Central Districts against Canterbury last week but could not bowl in the second innings because of pain in his foot. He was advised to miss his team’s ongoing match against Auckland but said he was “pretty confident” of making the final. Central Districts and Auckland will meet for the final in Lincoln.”I can understand people thinking I’m cotton-woolling myself but I’ll definitely take myself out [of the IPL] if I don’t get through the final,” Oram told the . “I’m pretty confident I will make the final and I won’t be tiptoeing through five days of cricket. I’m going to hit it hard, and deep down I think I’ll be okay.”He said he had played against Canterbury to see if he could speed up his return to the Test side for the Napier Test. “… clearly I wasn’t ready. O Vasco conseguiu a aprovação da CBF nas melhorias feitas em São Januário para dar mais segurança para as cabines de imprensa. Assim, a entidade enviou um ofício ao Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) dizendo que realizou uma vistoria no estádio e que o clube solucionou o problema envolvendo a proximidade entre as arquibancadas e o local onde fica os jornalistas.

Esse foi um dos principais motivos que fez o STJD interditar São Januário. Isso porque, na confusão após o clássico contra o Flamengo, pelo Brasileirão, alguns torcedores invadiram cabines, ameaçaram e até agrediram jornalistas.

Para resolver a questão, o Cruz-Maltino colocou uma cerca para que os torcedores não tenha fácil acesso às cabines. A CBF informou no documento enviado ao STJDque a obra promovida pelo clube atende a recomendação oriunda do relatório emitido em 20 de julho de 2017.

Vale lembrar que São Januário também está interditado por 180 dias a pedido do Ministério Público do Rio de Janeiro. O clube também vai precisar apresentar laudos de segurança para conseguir a liberação no órgão.

Além disso, nesta quinta-feira será julgado no Pleno do STJD o recurso do caso que aconteceu no estádio.Tanto a Procuradoria quanto o Vasco entraram com os pedidos – o primeiro quer que a pena aumente (em um máximo de 25 perdas de mando) e o segundo quer uma redução.
