ويلتقي منتخب مصر مع السنغال، يوم الثلاثاء الموافق 29 مارس الجاري، في مباراة الإياب للمرحلة النهائية للتصفيات الإفريقية المؤهلة لكأس العالم قطر 2022.

ووفقاً للمركز الإعلامي لنادي بيراميدز، تلقى نادي بيراميدز طلبا من المنتخب الوطني الأول، لضم نجمه ومدافعه علي جبر للانضمام لصفوف الفراعنة خلال المعسكر الحالي واستعدادا لمباراة السنغال في جولة الإياب من تصفيات كأس العالم.

وجاء استدعاء علي جبر لدعم دفاع المنتخب قبل موقعة الإياب بعدما أعلن البرتغالي كارلوس كيروش المدير الفني إصابة محمد عبد المنعم في الأنف وحاجته لجراحة بجانب غياب محمود الونش عن لقاء الإياب للإيقاف.

وكان منتخب مصر انتصر علي السنغال، بهدف دون رد، في المباراة التي أقيمت مساء الجمعة، في مواجهة الذهاب لتصفيات كأس العالم.

What’s the word?

The Gunners have lost the race to clinch the Norwich City playmaker after he opted to join Premier League rivals Aston Villa in an initial £33m deal but the North London outfit reportedly have a fresh name in mind.

According to CBS Sports journalist James Benge, AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is on their shortlist, he tweeted:

“Another target who Arsenal are understood to have broached internally is Hakan Calhanoglu, out of contract with AC Milan this summer. He is an option, not clear how high on the list he might be but [the] expectation is he’s an alternative to Odegaard.”

Forget about Buendia

The 27-year-old, who is rated at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, is an intriguing solution to Mikel Arteta’s attacking midfield woes, not at least because he won’t cost Stan Kroenke and KSE a single penny in terms of a transfer fee.

And that could be important if Arsenal are to bolster the playing squad right across the pitch as we’re yet to see what sort of damage their failure to qualify for Europe will do to their finances.

Thus, signing a quality player on a free makes the world of sense to do right now, especially as he appears to fit a lot of criteria that Arteta is currently lacking.

Martin Odegaard was always going to be a short-term option, as much as the club want to keep hold of him, whilst Mesut Ozil was on a rapid decline prior to his long-awaited departure.

Calhanoglu has emerged as one of Milan’s star performers after registering nine goals and 12 assists across 43 appearances in all competitions this season, via Transfermarkt.

But perhaps more interestingly, his ability to progressively move the ball forward is what makes him most appealing.

The Gunners ranked 12th in the league for average number of shots per game (12.1) whilst they scored the second-fewest number of goals from set-pieces (six), as per WhoScored.

Calhanoglu averaged 7.92 progressive carries per 90 minutes (FBRef) and created a whopping 50 chances from dead-ball situations alone with a further 48 taking him to a total of 98 for the season (WhoScored).

By comparison, Bukayo Saka was Arteta’s most creative influence with 36 key chances created – some margin off the 56-cap Turkey international.

It’s no wonder the 27-year-old’s head coach Stefan Pioli has waxed lyrical about his talents, he told reporters (via MilanNews.it):

“Calhanoglu is a leader of this team. He’s a leader on the pitch, he’s an intelligent player. Lately, we have faced teams that have closed the spaces and therefore, sometimes, I have had to lower him even though I want to keep him high.

“He knows how to marry perfectly with the game of his teammates. I have great respect for him and with intelligent players, you can play great games. He has the qualities to have some more goals.”

Also lauded as “generous and exceptional,” it’s evident that Calhanoglu would be a massive upgrade to Arsenal’s attacking midfield department and even though they missed out on Buendia, Edu Gaspar and co can alleviate the pain by landing the 5 foot 10 wizard for nothing.

What’s the story?

The 73-year-old departed Selhurst Park after last season’s conclusion following four relatively successful years in south London, but his replacement is yet to arrive.

It seemed as though former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was set to fill the vacant Palace hot seat until a last-minute U-turn, leaving the club’s hierarchy back at square one.

Whoever takes over the reins at Palace will be faced with a daunting task. A major squad overhaul is required, and the absence of Eberechi Eze and Nathan Ferguson until the new year through injury will only complicate matters further.

During his time at St.James’ Park, the Spaniard showcased his ability to extract results and performances far beyond the sum of his parts.

It’s a skill that will be required for any prospective Palace boss as they attempt to guide the Eagles to top-flight safety next season while working on a shoestring budget.

Key players such as Gary Cahill, Patrick van Aanholt and James McArthur may be allowed to walk out the exit door as the south London outfit enters a new chapter, but replacing them with similar quality stars will be a tricky assignment.

While bringing in a younger, more attack-minded manager may bring more excitement to the club’s supporters, pragmatism and experience are what is needed at this moment in time to steady a very rocky ship.

Under the 61-year-old Benitez, Palace would likely come out the other side of this transitional period with their Premier League status intact, and their playing squad revitalised, leaving the perfect foundation for a more ambitious tactician to take over further down the line.

وأشارت صحيفة “مترو” البريطانية إلى أن هناك مجموعتين أحدهما بمثابة الحلم لـ منتخب إنجلترا والأخرى بمثابة الكابوس في قرعة كأس العالم قطر 2022.

قرعة الحلم لإنجلترا: يبدو أن مجموعة تضم المكسيك والمغرب والمملكة العربية السعودية ستكون بمثابة قرعة سهلة للغاية بالنسبة للأسود الثلاثة.

سيكون مشجعو إنجلترا سعداء أيضًا بثلاثية من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وإيران ونيوزيلندا، إذا حدث ذلك.

سيناريو الكابوس: هناك احتمال أن تكون إنجلترا عالقة في مجموعة مع ألمانيا والسنغال وبيرو.

خيار آخر صعب سيكون أوروجواي وبولندا والكاميرون.

A provável transferência do atacante Alexandre Pato do Villarreal (ESP) para o Tianjin Quanjian (CHN) será um novo motivo de frustração para o Corinthians, que teve contrato com o jogador até o meio do ano passado. O clube chinês já havia realizado duas ofertas ao brasileiro em ocasiões anteriores, mas Pato rejeitou por conta do sonho de jogar na Europa. Seis meses depois de ser negociado pelo Timão por 3 milhões de euros (R$ 10,8 milhões na cotação da época) com os espanhóis, o jogador parece ter mudado de ideia sobre atuar em um mercado emergente e foi até liberado da partida de seu clube neste sábado para negociar os detalhes finais da transferência.

O Corinthians pagou R$ 40 milhões pela contratação de Pato em 2013, mas jamais conseguiu recuperar totalmente o investimento – o clube no máximo amenizou o prejuízo com a venda ao Villarreal e a negociação de Jadson, que chegou em troca com o São Paulo.

Agora, mais “prejuízo”: o Tianjin deverá pagar cerca de 18 milhões de euros (R$ 60 milhões) pela contratação de Pato, que rejeitou valores bem próximos disso quando ainda era jogador do Corinthians, em janeiro e depois em junho do ano passado, apesar da pressão do clube. Assustado com a chance de perder o jogador de graça no fim de 2016, o Timão vendeu os 60% dos direitos econômicos que possuía por 3 milhões de euros (R$ 10,8 milhões).

Isso significa que o Corinthians “deixou de ganhar” quase 8 milhões de euros por conta da postura irredutível de Alexandre Pato por ocasião da negociação, um valor aproximado de R$ 25 milhões: em junho, 60% dos direitos custaram R$ 10,8 milhões, e agora devem ser negociados por R$ 36,5 milhões.

No ano passado, as recusas de Pato irritaram a diretoria do Corinthians. O presidente Roberto de Andrade chegou a dizer que a oferta chinesa era “coisa de louco” e o ex-presidente Andrés Sanchez questionou: “Você acha que ele quer? Ele quer dinheiro. Quer receber R$ 6 milhões até o fim do ano e ficar livre. Pode vir o Barcelona que ele não vai aceitar. Só que as pessoas não entendem isso e nos criticam”.

O Tianjin Quanjian é o mesmo time que rescindiu contrato com Jadson há duas semanas, e agora o meia campeão brasileiro de 2015 tem chances de fechar seu retorno ao Corinthians. Pato viajou à Itália nesta sexta-feira e deve acertar com o clube chinês nos próximos dias.

Plenty of Aston Villa fans have been reacting after seeing a number of England fans chanting Jack Grealish’s name over the weekend.

Grealish was left out of Gareth Southgate’s side during the 1-0 win over Croatia on Sunday, with Phil Foden, Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling all getting the nod instead.

The Villa captain, who has seven senior caps to his name, failed to make it on from the bench in the Three Lions’ opener, despite starring in both pre-tournament warm-up games.

The 25-year-old is clearly becoming a fan favourite at international level though, and that was on show at a fan zone in Croydon.
