Plenty of Crystal Palace fans have been reacting to the club’s official Twitter post regarding two fixture amendments for April.

Roy Hodgson’s side aren’t in action until after the international break, and their next fixture has now been pushed back a further two days.

Everton and Chelsea fixtures impacted

The Eagles will now make the trip to take on Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton on Monday 5th April, with the game set to be broadcast on Sky Sports.

Palace’s following fixture, a home clash against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, will also be on Sky Sports and will now kick off at 5:30pm on Saturday 10th April.

Following last weekend’s win over West Brom, Palace seem to be all but safe. Fulham, in 18th, are 11 points behind the Eagles, with six sides in between the two London sides. That said, fans didn’t seem overly optimistic as they reacted to the news of the new fixture arrangements.

Many Everton fans have been left venting at Alex Iwobi after his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha spoke to Goal about his move from Arsenal to the Goodison Park faithful.

Speaking to the news outlet, the footballing legend said: “The move from Arsenal to Everton wasn’t an easy one. He wasn’t expecting it, it just happened. He got a call that there’s a deal for him and that he must oblige that deal. I think that must have taken him 12 months to get over.”

A lot was expected of Iwobi at the Merseyside club given that he cost £27.36m to sign him from the Gunners, but he has never really been able to live up to his inflated price tag.

The 24-year-old has only managed to score a mere two goals and make a further two assists in 50 games in total in the Premier League for the Toffees over the last two consecutive terms (Transfermarkt), which is simply not a good enough return for an attacking player.

Currently earning £50,000 per week at the Blues, the winger has been a total waste of money so far despite the occasional good performance.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw carried his club form onto the international stage in England’s 2-0 victory against Albania.

The Red Devils’ left-back, who has starred for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men throughout 2020/21, was selected from the start by Gareth Southgate in Tirana and turned in a hugely impressive performance.

In what was just his ninth appearance for his country and his first since September 2018, Shaw produced three tackles throughout the 90 minutes according to WhoScored. Only Three Lions midfielders Kalvin Phillips and Mason Mount could match those numbers, with no player on the pitch surpassing them.

The 25-year-old also contributed a further two clearances for the Three Lions.

In all, only Declan Rice managed to surpass Shaw’s five total defensive contributions for the away side. Whilst not the most challenging opposition from a defensive perspective, it was certainly a very solid evening for Shaw.

However, as he has done for the Red Devils this season, the left-back was also hugely threatening when going in the opposite direction, too.

He was a constant outlet for England, having 100 touches of the ball and completing a further 75 passes.

One of those passes was key in the Three Lions sealing victory as his dangerous left-footed cross was perfect for captain Harry Kane to nod home.

In all, it was Shaw’s seventh assist for club and country throughout the season in what is turning into an extremely productive campaign.

As a matter of fact, in teeing up Kane, Shaw managed to notch an assist in a fourth consecutive competitive international for England – an absolutely outstanding rate of productivity for a left-back.

It is no wonder then that following his recent strike against Manchester City in the Premier League, United boss Solskjaer hailed Shaw as “unstoppable”.

So, having most certainly taken his form onto the international stage, the left-back will hope to continue that back with his club once the international break draws to a close.

Apesar da satisfação por conta da volta aos campos, Denílson terá empecilhos para se firmar na equipe de Mano Menezes. A concorrência em seu setor – Henrique, Lucas Romero e Ariel Cabral revezam entre os titulares – diminui a possibilidade de atuar.

– Isso é muito bom para o clube, porque chegam jogadores de qualidade e eu fico feliz, porque tem grandes jogadores, como o Henrique, que já tem uma história no clube. Tem o Romero, tem o Ariel. Há jogadores de alta qualidade. O mais importante é trabalhar para melhorar o campeonato – afirmou.

– Eu estou muito tranquilo neste quesito, até porque vim para cá sabendo da situação toda. Vim para buscar o meu espaço com honestidade e simplicidade – acrescentou.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Carlton Palmer has reacted to comments made by Garry Monk regarding his decision to take the Sheffield Wednesday job back in 2019.

Speaking to The Athletic (via Sheffield Star) this month, Monk admitted signing up for the role in the Hillsborough dugout was a mistake.

After 14 months in charge, the 42-year-old was sacked as the Yorkshire club found themselves second from bottom in the Championship.

In his interview with The Athletic, Monk also claimed he knew that there were a lot of things wrong at Wednesday under the Dejphon Chansiri regime, something which Palmer felt he obviously had to know from the get-go and should have served as a warning sign.

Discussing Monk’s recent comments, the former Wednesday midfielder told FFC:

“Anybody who takes the Sheffield Wednesday job surely must have been doing their homework. There’s just too much of a managerial merry-go-round going on, so there’s something not right at the football club. But the problem that you’ve got is that it’s a massive club, it’s well supported and, you know, it’s a big job. So you believe, right, I can get in there, I can do a good job and this, that and the other.

“But there’s clearly issues there. I know there’s issues over the way Chansiri controls the playing side of things in terms of players coming and players going out. I’d be very shocked if Garry wasn’t aware of that when he went in there.”

With eight Championship games still to play, survival is not out of Wednesday’s reach yet. However, if the Owls do end up dropping down to League One, it will be interesting to see if Darren Moore is kept on or given the same treatment as the likes of Monk and Tony Pulis.

– Temos um plantel grande, nível técnico parecido. Optei por deixar o Everton fora, vinha de nove jogos seguidos começando o jogo, se expõe muito, fazendo quilometragem muito alta. Saiu muito cansado contra a Ponte e os números indicavam que tinha ritmo de lesão. O Fernandinho vem entrando bem, fiz a troca simples – afirmou o comandante, em entrevista coletiva ainda no sábado.

Outro ponto que a dupla tem de positivo, também apresentado diante do Vitória na última partida e elogiado por Zé Ricardo é o fato de conseguirem trocar de lado em campo com naturalidade. E, ao mesmo tempo, conseguem manter o nível de desempenho de seus lados originais. O treinador do Flamengo também comentou sobre esta marcante característica que vem sendo treinada por ele junto a Fernandinho e Gabriel.

– Essa permuta de posições pode ser constante na partida. Eles podem atuar tanto com pé trocado, quanto do lado de preferência. A gente sabia que o Vitória ia marcar a gente sob pressão. Depois do primeiro do jogo, conseguimos achar espaço entre a primeira e a segunda linha deles, tivemos toque de bola para aproximar os laterais e os homens de trás. Numa dessas triangulações, que não foram muitas, conseguimos o gol de empate. Acabou saindo no jogo da forma como nós treinamos com eles – completou Zé Ricardo.

A escolha por jogadores que estão em alto nível é a melhor tática para que o Flamengo consiga as vitórias e os consequentes objetivos na temporada. Fernandinho e Gabriel apresentaram isto e, pelo que tudo indica, serão mantidos com a sua importância na caminhada pelo título nacional. Em reta decisiva, todo ponto positivo precisa ser comemorado e os dois, mesmo que com histórias distintas, são protagonistas da evolução rubro-negra.
