Agora mais calmo, Neto disse ao LANCE! que o desabafo foi “espontâneo”. O Xodó da Fiel apontou os motivos para a queda de rendimento do Corinthians no segundo turno do Brasileirão e usou só duas palavras para responder sobre o que o Timão precisa fazer para não deixar o título escapar:

O desabafo de Neto rapidamente viralizou na internet e virou até paródia com as músicas “Twist And Shout”, dos Beatles, e “Killing in the name”, do Rage Against The Machine (veja no fim desta matéria). Nada que incomodasse o ídolo, que disse “não ligar muito para isso”.

Nesta entrevista ao LANCE!, Neto afirmou que o problema do Timão foi o “clima de já ganhou”, voltou a criticar os jogadores e revelou que desistiu de participar da política do clube. Confira:

Como vê esse momento do Corinthians? Por que acha que teve essa queda de rendimento?
Vejo um momento psicológico ruim. Mas pode melhorar. Para mim o problema foi o clima de “já ganhou” vir bem antes da hora.

Acha mesmo que o Corinthians vai perder o Brasileiro para o Palmeiras, como disse no seu programa? Ou foi só um desabafo após a derrota?
Não disse isso. Disse que se a postura não mudar, vai perder. Foi um desabafo espontâneo, mas verdadeiro.

Acha que o Santos tem chances?
Sinceramente, poucas. Só se Corinthians e Palmeiras fizerem muita bobagem.

Chegou a viver alguma situação parecida quando jogava?
Na minha época a turma jogava bola de verdade. Não tinha essas coisas.

No desabafo, você falou da zoação no seu condomínio e na Bandeirantes. Costuma zoar as pessoas também? Como é sua relação com os torcedores de outros times?
Brinco com amigos mais próximos. Aposto lanche e vestir a camisa. Nada exagerado. Agora não sou de zoar quem eu não conheço.

Você comentou sobre sua época, quando comia sanduíche. Poderia relembrar como que era no Corinthians?
Os times de futebol eram menos “ostentosos”, digamos assim. Não existia todo esse glamour. A gente dava entrevista pelado no vestiário, comia pão com ovo e maçã de lanche. Hoje em dia os caras ganham tanta grana que não se dedicam como deveria.

Como viu essa viralizada do vídeo na internet?
Não ligo muito pra isso.

No ano passado, chegou a dizer que gostaria de ser presidente do Corinthians, mas depois mudou de ideia. Tem participado de alguma forma da política do clube para a eleição em fevereiro de 2018?
Tentei. Tinha como objetivo. Mas pedi renúncia tendo em vista que existe uma ditadura lá dentro difícil de ser derrubada. Estava me desgastando à toa. Vou ser feliz com a minha família.

Steven Gerrard looks set to be a busy man in the New Year in what will be his first transfer window as Villa boss.

A new centre-back and a defensive midfielder are reportedly his main priorities, with Marvelous Nakamba suffering a serious knee injury in recent weeks.

He’s been promised a huge transfer kitty by NSWE, and it appears as if attacking midfielder Lanzini is a player of interest to Gerrard and sporting director Johan Lange.

The Latest: Villa’s enquiry

TEAMtalk shared a story on Wednesday evening suggesting both Villa and Leeds made it clear to the Hammers they are keen on the Argentine.

West Ham were open to an exit earlier in the season, but they have rebuffed approaches regarding a January transfer involving Lanzini.

The 28-year-old, labelled as a ‘top player’ by Darren Bent, has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, with his three league starts coming in the last three fixtures.

The Verdict: Priorities

Gerrard and Lange’s main focus should be on a holding midfielder in January, so their failed approach for Lanzini shouldn’t be viewed as a disaster at this moment in time.

The club have just Douglas Luiz as the only available senior defensive midfield option following Nakamba’s injury. Should they get one in early next month, then perhaps a move for an attacking midfielder could be of use, with Jacob Ramsey the club’s only out and out attacking midfielder.

However, Gerrard has plenty of wide attacking talent on the books who could adapt to a central role, but losing Luiz alongside Nakamba and not bringing in a replacement could be extremely worrying.

A eliminação do Sport da Copa Sul-Americana, na noite da última quinta-feira, confirmou uma situação curiosa. Se fracassar na luta por uma vaga no G7 do Campeonato Brasileiro deste ano, o Botafogo terá que torcer pelos seus algozes desta temporada: Flamengo, que bateu o Glorioso na Copa do Brasil, e Grêmio, que despachou o Alvinegro na Libertadores. Curiosamente, as duas equipes se enfrentam no domingo, às 17h, no Sul. Para o Botafogo, o melhor resultado é o empate.

O Rubro-Negro, que também é um rival estadual, está na semifinal da Sul-Americana e encara o Júnior Barranquila, da Colômbia. A final do torneio é em 13/12, depois da última rodada do Brasileirão. Atrás do Botafogo no nacional, com 47 pontos e uma posição abaixo, o Fla está em sétimo e pode ultrapassar o time comandado por Jair Ventura e tirá-lo do G7, mas abrir nova vaga.

Já o Grêmio tem mais chances de beneficiar o Glorioso. O clube gaúcho está na final da Libertadores e decide o título contra o inexperiente Lanús, debutante nessa altura do Campeonato. Mas, além disso, o Tricolor está na frente do Bota no Brasileirão. É o quarto, com 51 pontos, duas posições à frente do Alvinegro e tem três pontos a mais.

Para não torcer pelo rival e pelos algozes, o Botafogo precisa só fazer a sua parte no Campeonato Brasileiro. Em sexto, com 48 pontos, o clube tem uma ‘Copa do Mundo’ até o fim da temporada. São sete jogos, a começar pelo clássico com o Fluminense, neste sábado, às 19h, no Nilton Santos. Ficar no G7 dá uma vaga na Pré-Libertadores do ano que vem. Terminar no G4 já deixa o Bota diretamente na fase de grupos da competição continental. Lembrando sempre que o Cruzeiro, campeão da Copa do Brasil, está ‘fora’ desta disputa.

وتابع: “كنت أعرف من فترة طويلة أنني يجب أن أرحل، لم أشارك في المباريات والمدرب تشافي لم يؤمن بي”.

Mais de 30 mil pessoas foram ao Maracanã no último sábado na expectativa de verem o Vasco entrar no G7, zona do Campeonato Brasileiro que dá vaga para a Conmebol Libertadores de 2018. Bastava apenas o Cruz-Maltino derrotar o Coritiba. O resultado não veio, o duelo terminou empatado, mas por conta da sequência, comissão técnica e jogadores do Vasco não estão lamentando.

O Vasco está na oitava colocação do Brasileiro e não será ultrapassado nesta rodada. Dos últimos quatro jogos, foram três vitórias (diante de Avaí, Botafogo e Atlético-GO) e um empate (contra o Coritiba). Dos 12 pontos disputados, dez alcançados. Em entrevista coletiva após o confronto, o técnico Zé Ricardo lembrou deste ponto, o que deixa a torcida vascaína orgulhosa.

– A torcida tem que estar orgulhosa, vínhamos em uma sequência sem perder. Conquistamos dez de 12 pontos. Se fizessem essa proposta antes, assinavam na hora. Coritiba é difícil, está lutando para sair de baixo. Confio muito no nosso trabalho. Às vezes não acontece, desta vez o adversário nos colocou em dificuldades – concluiu.

Nesta reta final de Campeonato Brasileiro, cada ponto conquistado é importante na busca pelos objetivos. O trabalho feito pelo técnico Zé Ricardo vem se mostrando bastante importante na reconstrução da equipe, que até o primeiro semestre era dada como certa na briga até o fim contra o rebaixamento na competição – o que atualmente já é praticamente descartado, com olhos por uma Libertadores. Brett Lee’s right elbow will spend the next six weeks in a brace after he had surgery in Sydney on Wednesday. Lee, who picked up the problem on the one-day tour of India, was considering his playing future when he learned last month he would be out for the Australian international season.Trefor James, Cricket Australia’s medical officer, said Lee had an operation to repair a damaged ligament. “He will be required to use an elbow brace for a period of approximately six weeks and then commence more intensive rehabilitation,” Dr James said. “His return to bowling will be determined in due course as he is regularly assessed by the surgeon and Cricket Australia’s medical staff.”Over the past year Lee has been forced into long-term rehabilitation by ankle and side complaints before the latest setback threw more doubt over his future. The run of injuries have him stalled on 76 Tests and 310 wickets and he has not played in a five-day game since limping off the MCG last December. One of the benefits of this enforced lay-off is he has been able to spend more time with his young son.

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson believes the problems that derailed the first half of his Ashes summer have made him a better player. Johnson suffered serious lows in England – losing his accuracy, having his place under threat and a family dispute which became public – but after the ICC Cricketer of the Year award and a starring role in Australia’s Champions Trophy triumph he was confident of where he was.”I built it up really high. Obviously it’s a big deal being the Ashes, but I probably built it up too much and got too excited about it all early,” Johnson said. “I didn’t take in the fact that their home crowd was right behind them all the way and I wasn’t used to that feeling, and obviously taking on the role as leader of the attack all got to me a little bit.”Happy to be back in Perth after a long time away from home, Johnson said the lows experienced in England made him stronger. “I’m glad I recovered from it. It has definitely helped and is something you need to go through. It was a learning experience for me.”Johnson, 27, reflected on the Champions Trophy win as a happy occasion for a side that struggled in the one-day game. “Sitting at the end of the game we felt pretty good about ourselves. Obviously we did lose the Ashes, but it was very fulfilling for us to win that tournament. Everyone was pretty happy,” he said. “I probably would [trade it for the Ashes] though. The big event for us was the Ashes, but you have to take each tournament as you go. We can’t dwell on the Ashes, we’ve won the Champions Trophy and are very happy.”Johnson fought off stiff competition to take the Player of the Year award from fellow short-list nominees Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni, as well as England captain Andrew Strauss. During the voting period, Johnson played 17 Test matches, taking 80 wickets, which was easily the highest number by any Test bowler in the voting period. He also scored a total of 632 runs for Australia, including a century and three half-centuries, to register an average of 30.09. In 16 ODIs in that time he took 28 wickets at an average of 24.25 and an economy rate of 5.06.”It was very exciting for me and was something that I didn’t expect,” he said. “It’s always good to get those personal achievements, but in the end it was great to win the Champions Trophy and take that away as well.”Johnson now has 12 days off before joining up with Australia for their seven-ODI tour of India. He has ruled out playing for the Warriors in the Ford Ranger Cup and Sheffield Shield matches against Queensland, his former team, over the next week, instead opting to “chill out as much as possible”.”It feels very strange. It has been close to five months, so it’s been a long time. I’m just looking forward to having a bit of a rest and being home with friends and family,” he said. “I feel good at the moment because I’m home and have just landed, the adrenaline is kicking in and I’m just excited to be back. One man who didn’t impress a few Southampton fans on the day was Tella, who had a slight off-day according to SofaScore.

The 22-year-old, being handed their lowest match rating of 6.3, proved ineffective in the final third, completing just 50% of his passes to teammates and finding none of his long balls forward (SofaScore).

He also made no key passes, found just one out of three crosses, lost possession 18 times and attempted zero shots on target, leaving little wonder why some supporters weren’t impressed with his “careless” performance (SofaScore).
