Everton have now reportedly enquired about the availability of a Premier League star in the summer transfer window, with David Moyes an admirer of the player in question.

The Blues appear to be pushing hard to complete some exciting summer transfer business, with the Merseysiders reportedly in talks with the agents of Fred over a move to Bramley Moore Dock.
The former Manchester United midfielder could be a shrewd and experienced addition who has proven himself in the Premier League in the past, making 139 appearances in the competition. Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is keen on keeping hold of the Brazilian, though.

Meanwhile, Everton have reportedly reached a verbal agreement over the signing of Kenny Tete from Fulham, with the right-back out of contract in west London at the end of this month.
The Dutchman could come in as an upgrade on the likes of Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman, bringing a mix of defensive solidity and attacking thrust to Moyes’ team, and the fact that it would be on a free transfer is an added bonus.

According to a new claim from Give Me Sport, Everton have enquired to Manchester City about the potential signing of Jack Grealish this summer.
Newcastle United and Napoli are also believed to be in the mix to sign the 29-year-old, who is expected to leave the Etihad after four years there, joining for £100m from Aston Villa back in 2021. However, the Toffees may find a transfer hard to complete as Grealish is looking to play in the Champions League next season.
Grealish’s stock has fallen over the past year or two, with a lack of end product under Pep Guardiola, but it could simply be that he needs a new challenge and regular game time.
Guardiola has described the Englishman as a “fighter”, often being relentlessly kicked and fouled during games, while Moyes heaped huge praise on him back in 2021, saying:
“He is a really good player and probably the best player in the Premier League at this time. He has done such a big job at that club (Villa) and is probably the best player in the league right now.”
There are definite risks in Everton signing Grealish, not least because he turns 30 this year and would demand big wages, but he possesses the swagger and unpredictable style to be a hit among Blues supporters.

Cursory comments regarding Newcastle United’s wealth must be frustrating for the Toon faithful, and indeed the powers that be at St. James’ Park.
While several divisional rivals have struggled to direct their hosepipe stream of transfer funds over the past several years, Newcastle have been diligent and calculated under the wing of Eddie Howe.
However, last summer’s window left plenty to be desired. In that regard, it’s all the more remarkable that Howe led his Magpies to glory in the Carabao Cup and sealed a place in next season’s Champions League proper after finishing fifth in the Premier League.
With talisman Alexander Isak expected to stay put now that Newcastle have registered themselves for a return to Europe’s elite stage, focus has turned to a right-sided forward.

While fellow Premier League forwards Joao Pedro and Antoine Semenyo are on PIF’s radar, the 23-year-old Elanga is felt to be Howe’s leading target.

Nottingham Forest signed Elanga from Manchester United for a fee of £15m in July 2023, with the young forward earning scant opportunities at Old Trafford.

Still only 23, remember, the Sweden international could become a bona fide star in the years to come, with a transfer to Howe’s Newcastle sure to spark an acceleration of development.
His blistering speed and powerful athleticism even suggest Elanga could bloom into Howe’s new version of Allan Saint-Maximin, though perhaps one who offers a tad more by the way of clinical output.
As per FBref, Elanga ranked among the top 6% of attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for assists, the top 10% for goal-creating actions and the top 3% for crosses per 90.
He didn’t rank that highly across ball-carrying metrics, but do not let this fool you: Elanga is one of the most electric wingers in England, simply reduced in his intensity due to Nuno Espirito’s pragmatic tactics (often hemmed in, Forest ranked 18th for possession with a 42% average).
He’s got that “X-factor pace”, all right, as was agreed by Sky Sports pundits Andy Reid and Jamie Redknapp. And in that regard, Newcastle could unearth their new version of Saint-Maximin, one who could offer more of a clinical threat than the fleet-footed Frenchman.
Saint-Maximin’s qualities have earned him cult status on Tyneside, with reporter Pete O’Rourke also noting his own “X-Factor” quality, having been hailed as a real “box of tricks” due to his frightening speed and dribbling prowess.
While his £23m transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli back in 2023 was bittersweet, Howe clearly knew what he was doing, however, with the winger posting 13 goals and 21 assists across 124 matches at Newcastle, a contribution rate of only 0.28.
Elanga, conversely, has been far more prolific in Nottingham, heaving an almost identical haul of 11 goals and 21 assists for the City Ground side, but doing so across just 82 fixtures in all competitions, a rate of 0.39.
Though Elanga wouldn’t bring the innate goalscoring quality of Mbeumo to the Newcastle fold, he could definitely make a big difference, promoting creativity and taking his athletic qualities into a more fitting park, with Howe’s expansive system allowing him to roam and find the likes of Isak in the middle.

Already, of course, Kevin De Bruyne has said his goodbyes. The Belgian – one of the best to ever play for Manchester City – bid an emotional farewell to The Etihad last week to begin a summer of departures for the Citizens.
The midfielder told the fans after waving goodbye: “I wanted to play with creativity, I wanted to play with passion. I wanted to enjoy football and I hope everyone enjoyed it.
“Everybody has pushed me so hard inside and outside the club to be the best version of myself and these guys in front of me have made me better than I was before. It’s an honour to play with these guys. I’ve made so many friends for life.”
In the coming months, it will be a question as to who joins De Bruyne out the exit door at Manchester City. There are certainly a few candidates who are coming to the end of their peaks, whilst another name has also reportedly been targeted by Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid now targeting Grealish
According to reports in Spain, Simeone and Atletico Madrid are now targeting a summer move to sign Jack Grealish, who could leave Manchester City this summer in a bid to gain a starting place elsewhere. The England international has often been forced to watch on from the bench this season and desperately needs a fresh start.
Of course, Grealish wouldn’t be the first English player to complete a move to the Spanish club either. Just last summer, Conor Gallagher decided to leave Chelsea in favour of the Metropolitano and has thrived ever since. Now, a year on, it could be Grealish’s turn to join Simeone in La Liga.
Despite a difficult spell at The Etihad, the £300,000-a-week midfielder has still found himself at the centre of praise from Guardiola, who told reporters following Grealish’s performance against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup earlier this season: “I’m happy for him. I know it’s not easy when you don’t play regularly. In the last game in the FA Cup he played very good, much better than today.”
Whether that praise is enough to keep hold of Grealish seems unlikely at this stage, but only time will tell if Atletico Madrid come calling this summer.

All signs are pointing towards the end for Aston Villa and Martinez after he was pictured saying an emotional goodbye to the home fans following victory over Tottenham Hotspur last time out. Unai Emery also failed to rule out an exit for the goalkeeper to only add to the belief that the Argentine will be playing his football elsewhere next season.
The Villa boss told reporters: “We will see. Of course, it is the last match here [this season], and I don’t know. We will see about the team, the players, but of course, they are responding on the field.”
Ever since that potential goodbye, the rumours have been circling. Both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have already been linked with moves for Martinez, whilst Villa themselves have set their sights on replacing their No.1.
Names such as Lucas Chevalier have already been mentioned in what would certainly be an excellent move for both the LOSC Lille star and those at Villa Park. One of the most promising young goalkeepers around, the big question will be whether the Villans can win the race for his signature.

Meanwhile, Espanyol’s Joan Garcia is also a name that has been in the headlines as of late. The talented goalkeeper, like Chevalier, has been fantastic this season and is one of only a few options who could seamlessly replace Martinez in the Midlands.
Amid competition for both of those players, however, Villa may yet turn to an option far closer to home amid reports that they’ve been handed a major boost in pursuit of a Premier League-winning goalkeeper ahead of the summer window.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa have now been given the green light to sign Caoimhin Kelleher by his current club, Liverpool. The Reds have Giorgi Mamardashvili on his way and already have Alisson Becker to call on, meaning that the door has swung open for Kelleher to depart.
Already thought to be high on Villa’s list of targets, the Irishman will leave Merseyside somewhat of a cult hero, having often stepped up in place of Alisson amid his injury issues, and particularly starred whenever given the opportunity to feature in a number of Wembley finals.
However, he is now ready to become an undisputed No 1, with the latest claims suggesting that Liverpool “will accept the right offer” for Kelleher should one come forward.

Dubbed “fantastic” by Premier League legend David Seaman following last season’s Carabao Cup final display, Kelleher has been ready to take hold of the opportunity that Aston Villa may hand him for some time.
Glasgow Rangers ended their 2024/25 campaign in typically disappointing fashion when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday.
The Gers led 1-0 and 2-1 throughout the match but were pegged back both times and, ultimately, had to settle for a draw in what was Barry Ferguson’s last match in charge of the club.
The former Scotland international came in to take interim charge until the end of the season when Philippe Clement was relieved of his duties in February, and has not done a particularly impressive job as caretaker.
Ferguson ended his interim spell with just six wins in 15 matches in all competitions, including five draws and four defeats, and his team only kept two clean sheets in that time – most recently in the 4-0 win over Aberdeen.
These statistics do not suggest that the Scottish head coach is a suitable candidate to take the job on a full-time basis, and it has since been confirmed that he has left his post.
The Light Blues have already been linked with a host of other managers to land the job this summer, including Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti.

It was recently reported in Spain that the Italian coach had decided to remain with his father, Carlo Ancelotti, and follow him into the Brazil national team job this summer.
The outlet claimed that Ancelotti was due to turn down a move to Rangers, and any other interested clubs, to work with the Brazil squad for at least another year, potentially with a view to working at the World Cup in 2026, before making a decision on his future.

However, the Daily Record have since stated that the Real Madrid assistant is still a contender for the Rangers job, but that he is not the only boss in the running for the role.
These reports are conflicting and make it hard to get a real gauge on how likely the Italian tactician is to be in the dugout at Ibrox when the 2025/26 campaign gets underway.
As you can see in the graphic above, he has learned from one of the best to ever do it, as his father has won so many trophies at the very top level of European football. Carlo Ancelotti has won all five of Europe’s major leagues and won the Champions League five times, which speaks to his immense quality as a manager.
However, Davide Ancelotti is yet to prove himself as the main man coaching a team. He has not managed a team at first-team level and that makes him an unknown quantity, which is why the 49ers could be better off forgetting about him and swooping for a more experienced head coach this summer.

The Daily Record recently reported that Ancelotti is not the only manager being considered by the 49ers and Kevin Thelwell, as they are also looking at several British coaches.
It was revealed that Sean Dyche, Gary O’Neil, and Russell Martin, all sacked by Premier League teams this season, are also being eyed up by the Scottish giants.

Of those three managers, Martin is the only one who has experience of Scottish football. The former central defender and right-back had a short stint on loan at Ibrox in the 2017/18 campaign, and was a Scotland international, despite being born and raised in England.
He would be available on a free transfer should Rangers decide to make a move for him because Southampton parted ways with the manager earlier this year, which would also make him more attainable than Ancelotti, who is still in a job with his father.
With this in mind, Thelwell must pursue a deal to bring Martin back to Ibrox for a stint as a manager rather than a player ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, as he could be an even better option than Ancelotti.
Why Rangers should appoint Russell Martin
As aforementioned, Ancelotti does not have any relevant first-team managerial experience that Rangers can look at to see a demonstrable style of play or how he would deal with a group of players as the main leader.
He has won trophies as an assistant to his father at Real Madrid but it would still be a gamble to appoint him as the next Gers manager, as his managerial quality is still unknown.
Martin, however, has plenty of experience as a manager or head coach in England thanks to his time with MK Dons, Swansea, and Southampton, managing in League One, the Championship, and the Premier League.
As you can see in the graphic above, the former Scotland international has managed over 200 matches in English football, and enjoyed a fantastic overall record at Southampton, despite being sacked after struggling in the top-flight.
One of the big positives in Martin’s column is also that he has a demonstrable way of playing that could excite supporters and lead the club into the 49ers era in style.

As you can see in the table above, the former Southampton manager earned promotion from the Championship with a ball-dominant and attacking style at St. Mary’s in the 2023/24 campaign.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta claimed that Martin’s style of play is a “joy to watch” and “successful”, which shows that the former Rangers defender has impressed one of the top managers in Europe with his work on the coaching pitch.
This shows that the former Scotland international has a demonstrably exciting style of play because he effectively coached his way of playing in the second tier to earn promotion with the Saints, and caught the eye of the Gunners boss.
