Slot's head has finally cooled enough from the Merseyside derby to shift his attention to Liverpool's clash against Wolves on Sunday and one player in particular. The Dutchman raved about Cunha and his quality ahead of the match, suggesting that the Brazilian should be playing for one of the top five teams in the country.

Speaking ahead of the match, Slot said: "Matheus Cunha is a quality player and he has the quality to play for one of the top five teams in England. If you go to the Dutch league and look at the team in 17th place, there is no player who could play for Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord".

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Cunha has managed an impressive 11 goals in 23 Premier League appearances this season for a Wolves side sitting 17th in the table. He has already been linked to teams higher up the division and is said to be available for around £62 million ($78m).

Romano: West Ham eye move to appoint 42 y/o manager with Lopetegui on brink

With defeat against Nottingham Forest leaving Julen Lopetegui on the verge of losing his job, West Ham United are reportedly already eyeing an impressive replacement for the Spaniard.

Lopetegui on the brink at West Ham

Sat in 14th after a summer of heavy investment, Lopetegui is now reportedly on the brink at West Ham. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard is under increasing scrutiny with forthcoming games against Everton and Newcastle United the chance to save his job.

Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing after the Hammers were brushed aside by Nottingham Forest: “Another defeat yesterday against Nottingham Forest puts Julen Lopetegui on the brink at West Ham.”

Another day to forget, West Ham’s 3-0 defeat against Forest represented a game between two sides in such contrasting positions compared to the expectations in pre-season. Some would have had Forest just above the dropzone whilst placing West Ham in contention for European qualification. After 10 games, however, it’s the latter who sit closest to the bottom three and Forest who are stealing the show in the Premier League.

It seems as though those at the London Stadium have seen enough too, with Lopetegui edging closer to the sack and a fresh candidate to replace the former Sevilla boss now emerging.

According to Romano in his Daily Briefing, West Ham are now eyeing a move to appoint Edin Terzic to replace Lopetegui in what would be the German’s first job since leaving Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Taking the Bundesliga giants all the way to the Champions League final, Terzic left many impressed but still finds himself without a job in what sums up the ruthless world of football management. Now, however, West Ham could hand the 42-year-old a route back into the technical area, with Romano writing: “The Hammers could appoint former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic as the 58-year-old’s successor.”

West Ham can make up for regret by hiring Terzic

With the more old-fashioned David Moyes heading out of the exit door in the summer, West Ham found themselves with one of the most exciting squads outside of the Premier League’s top six and the chance to appoint an equally exciting manager. Yet, in came Lopetegui – a manager who struggled at Wolves albeit without financial backing – and one who has ultimately not become famous for applying the exhilarating football that fans were desperate to see at the London Stadium.

The appointment felt subdued because it was exactly that. Whilst Brighton & Hove Albion took a risk by appointing Fabian Hurzeler before reaping the rewards ever since West Ham stuck with the safe choice only to be full of regret ever since. Now, they should turn to Terzic.

A young manager who proved his worth at Dortmund, Terzic would help get the best out of Mohammed Kudus again in similar fashion to how his 4-3-3 attacking system got the best out of Jadon Sancho. It may be months later, but it’s not too late for West Ham to get their appointment right at the second time of asking.

David Hussey aims to bring Kolkata Knight Riders lessons to Melbourne Stars

Stars’ batters are going to be given the backing to be as aggressive as they want

Alex Malcolm02-Dec-2021Melbourne Stars coach David Hussey believes he learned more from the failure of last season’s BBL than the success of the season before and hopes to implement some of the strategies that he and Brendon McCullum used to turn Kolkata Knight Riders around in this year’s IPL.Hussey’s first season as Stars coach in 2019-20, having taken the reins from Stephen Fleming, went like a dream until they fell at the last hurdle against Sydney Sixers in a rain-affected final in Sydney. But his second campaign did not go as smoothly as the side battled to win just five games and lost their last three to miss out on the finals.”I actually learned more about [the job] last year when we’re not playing as well than the first year when everything was going smoothly,” Hussey told ESPNcricinfo. “A lot of man management, a lot of strategy meetings, and sometimes your strategy is not always correct.”Related

Hussey appreciates the role of the assistant coach having spent a couple of seasons alongside McCullum at KKR. As a result, he is going to put a lot of trust in new Stars assistants Ben Rohrer and Clint McKay to help run the team. “You should get more and more ideas and a lot of trust in the assistant coaches,” he said. But he also wants to implement some of the things that worked so well at Kolkata this year. When the IPL was postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak in India, KKR sat seventh on the table with just two wins. On returning in the UAE later in the year they were a completely different side, unshackled, unburdened, and playing an exhilarating brand of cricket. They stormed to the playoffs and made the final only to be beaten by Chennai Super Kings.Hussey wants to recreate the KKR environment for his Stars players in order to get the best out of them.”Be firm but fair,” Hussey said. “Have the honest constructive conversations with all the batters and the bowlers. A lot of one-on-one time. But also have them believing. Cricket at the moment is so highly pressurised, every ball that’s bowled or faced is so important a game of T20 cricket. Try and remove all the pressure from that situation you possibly can. If they’re nice and relaxed, they generally play their best.”Like with KKR, Hussey wants his batters to be bold. Stars missed out on a big-name recruit but have added uncapped Englishman Joe Clarke to keep wicket and bat at the top of the order alongside Marcus Stoinis. Joe Burns and Beau Webster add a lot of flexibility in the middle-order alongside captain Glenn Maxwell, Nick Larkin, and Hilton Cartwright. He may also sometimes utilise Nathan Coulter-Nile’s power-hitting earlier in the innings after he conceded Stars “got surge yips last year” trying to work how to best exploit the BBL’s Power Surge playing condition with two powerplay overs saved for the second half of the innings.Marcus Stoinis will be back at the top of the order after his finisher role for Australia•Getty ImagesHussey admitted his batting philosophy has changed, particularly around six-hitting and strike rotation, and will encourage players in certain situations to turn down singles if they feel a match-up is right for them to try and hit multiple sixes in an over.”Old school T20 batting is hit a six and a one,” Hussey said. “But new school batting is hit a six then another six. Put the bowler under as much pressure as possible. So my thinking has changed. But if you go in with negative thoughts as a batter and pass it on, they start doubting themselves so it’s all about giving them as much confidence as they possibly can and if they want to hit six sixes in the over, they’ve got our blessing.”Stars have recruited Qais Ahmad to work in combination with Adam Zampa after having success with two legspinners at the MCG two years ago. They do have some injury concerns in the pace bowling ranks. Billy Stanlake is unlikely to play a part in the tournament due to a back injury while Liam Hatcher will also miss the early part of the BBL due to his back issue. They lost tearaway quick Lance Morris who has signed with Perth Scorchers.Victorian youngsters Brody Couch and Sam Elliott, son of former Australia Test opener Matthew Elliott, could well get an opportunity.”We might have to rejig the strategy there and maybe open the bowling with Sam Elliot and a spin option to try and spread out our best bowlers to bowl in the middle,” Hussey said.

£15k-p/w Leeds ace who Farke’s barely used now looking to leave Elland Road

A £15,000 a week player is looking to seal a move away from Leeds United in the January transfer window, according to a new report. The Whites have had a testing time with injuries this season, but that hasn’t affected Daniel Farke’s side too much on the pitch, as they sit just three points behind leaders Sunderland before their game against Millwall on Wednesday night.

Farke must drop James to unleash Leeds star who's on a "different level"

The Leeds United star has not had many opportunities to shine from the start.

ByDan Emery Nov 6, 2024 Leeds United news

The Yorkshire side have seen some important players ruled out with injuries already this season, one being midfielder Ethan Ampadu. The Welshman has been out injured for over a month now, as he suffered the knee injury in the 3-0 win over Coventry City back in September. He isn’t expected to be back yet, but Farke has confirmed that Ampadu is ahead of schedule and could be back sooner rather than later.

“He’s working hard, already doing some running. It will be a while before he can join us in team training; he’s even a bit ahead of schedule. I’m carefully optimistic he can return to team training a bit earlier. We will see.

“Normally, it would be realistic to be back in training in the middle of December and then available in the beginning of January. It would be nice if he can help us already a bit earlier and sooner because he’s our captain and a versatile player. We would love to have him back, but we won’t rush it. It was a serious injury. He’s a bit ahead, but let’s see how it develops.

Meanwhile, Leeds are being linked with a move for midfielder Lewis O’Brien, as the midfielder is currently on loan at LAFC but could return to Nottingham Forest in January. He is a player who Leeds have tried to sign before, and they could look to do so once again. But while the focus may be on arrivals, it seems one player is keen to leave Elland Road in the New Year.

Joe Gelhardt looking to leave Leeds in January

According to MOT Leeds News, Joe Gelhardt wants to seal a loan move away from Leeds United in January. The 22-year-old came through the academy at Wigan Athletic, and after impressing, Leeds decided to snap him up in 2020, but it is a move that has yet to work out.

Leeds forward Joe Gelhardt.

Gelhardt, who earns £15,000 a week at Elland Road, has featured a lot for the Yorkshire side but has yet to get a run of regular minutes under the current manager, failing to start under Farke in the Championship this season. The forward has appeared just three times this season in all competitions, totalling 72 minutes of football.

This report states that Gelhardt has become frustrated with his lack of game time, and having joined Sunderland for six months in the 2022/23 campaign, it seems he wants another loan move in January.

David Moyes was Man Utd's canary in the coal mine: Everton boss' Old Trafford failure should have highlighted growing rot inside the Red Devils

United did not learn the valuable lessons of the Scot's dismal season in charge and continue to make the same mistakes that haunted him

No one with any connection to Manchester United, or indeed with any interest in football, will ever forget David Moyes' ill-fated season at Old Trafford. The Glaswegian's descent from being 'The Chosen One' asked to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson to a figure of ridicule was sharp. His side lost 11 Premier League matches and finished seventh, their worst showing in 24 years, while they were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round. Moyes' side also had the worst home record of any United team since 1978, while they averaged just 1.64 goals per game.

Moyes' previous 11 years in charge of Everton had created an image of a steady pair of hands, but after his nightmare spell at United, he was considered damaged goods. He had brief and unsuccessful spells with Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham, and it was only when he steered the Irons into Europe in 2021 during his second spell at the London Stadium that he started to be respected again.

His reputation grew further when he took West Ham to the Europa League semi-finals in 2022, and subsequently to Conference League glory in 2023. Still, his departure from east London last summer underlined his lack of aura and the sense that what happened at Old Trafford had changed him forever. And yet all of a sudden, Moyes is back in vogue, leading a truly stunning revival with Everton. Now, next up for the 61-year-old whose career has been rejuvenated is a showdown with United on Saturday…

Getty Images SportAs many wins as Amorim

With the Toffees winning four of their last five Premier League matches while frustrating Liverpool in an unforgettable final derby at Goodison Park, it feels like the last 12 years never happened and Moyes is the cream of the managerial crop once more, just as when he was anointed as Ferguson's successor in 2013. And what's more, United are losing games at such a fast rate that Moyes is no longer regarded as the worst manager in the Red Devils' modern history.

Ruben Amorim has lost eight of his 14 Premier League games in charge of United, who are on track for their worst campaign since being relegated in 1974. They are also enduring their worst run of results at home since 1894. And no, that's not a typo. This is their worst run of home form in 131 years, when the club was called Newton Heath and played at a stadium called Bank Street.

Amorim was tasked with radically transforming United's style of play when he succeeded Erik ten Hag in November, but he cannot get a tune out of his players. And yet he is hellbent on sticking with his 3-4-3 formation, despite growing discontent in the dressing room with his tactical plan.

Amorim's struggles to imprint his particular style on United is in great contrast to the success Moyes has had with Everton while going back to basics. The Scot has accumulated 13 points in six games back in charge of the Toffees – just one fewer than Amorim has in 14 Premier League matches while matching his four wins. Moyes inherited an even bigger mess at Goodison than Amorim did when he got the keys to Old Trafford, as Everton were just one point above the relegation zone when he replaced the sacked Sean Dyche, but they are now 13 points clear of the drop and have climbed above United in the standings.

AdvertisementGetty Lessons not learned

This, however, is not a revisionist rewriting of history when it comes to Moyes' time at United. The team's current struggles do not change the fact that he was unquestionably the wrong man at the wrong time to take charge of the Red Devils. There is no hiding from the fact that he took a serial-winning squad and turned them into an ordinary team that the likes of West Brom and Stoke City could comfortably beat.

What history has shown is that United failed to learn the lessons from Moyes' torrid time in charge. His hapless spell should have highlighted the club's problems in the transfer market and its willingness to indulge players who did not pull their weight and questioned the manager. Instead, United became obsessed with trying to copy what other top clubs had done years before, appointing serial-winning figures like Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho whose methods were already out of date by the time they rocked up at Old Trafford.

GettyBungling the transfer window

Moyes' time in charge of United got off to the worst possible start, as the club dithered in the summer transfer window just after appointing him. Despite being linked with some of the best players in the world, they ended up only adding Marouane Fellaini from Everton on deadline day for £27.5m ($34m), paying an extra £4m as they waited until his release clause had expired. United had had the cheek earlier in the summer to make a joint-bid of £28m for Fellaini and Toffees left-back Leighton Baines. That offer was understandably rejected by Moyes' former club, and it was far from the only attempted transfer he and United failed to pull off.

Moyes was set on signing Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and Gareth Bale from Tottenham, but the former opted to stay at the Camp Nou for another season while the Wales star had his heart set on Real Madrid, despite United offering Spurs more money. As deadline day approached, United got more and more desperate, making last-ditch moves for Daniele De Rossi from Roma and Sami Khedira from Madrid.

A frustrating transfer window for United culminated in farcical circumstances when they attempted to sign Ander Herrera the day the window was due to shut, failing to understand that Athletic Club would only sell him if the Red Devils paid his £30m release clause and deposited it at the head offices of La Liga. It was an impossible move to pull off in 24 hours and just underlined how out-of-depth the club was in the transfer market without the personality of Ferguson and the expertise of David Gill, the club's long-running chief executive who had stepped down at the same time as the manager.

Lack of leadership

The natural response to such an embarrassing transfer window would have been to follow what most self-respecting clubs at the time were doing and appoint an experienced sporting director to take care of player recruitment. But United's newly-appointed chief executive Ed Woodward, an accountant by trade, continued to do most of United's work in the transfer market even after Moyes was sacked.

Woodward gave his next manager, Van Gaal, a £160m transfer war chest the following year, the type of support Moyes would have killed for. But there was no coherence to the signings. United picked up Radamel Falcao for a hefty loan fee and signed Victor Valdes after both players had endured lengthy periods out with serious knee injuries. They spent £60m on Angel Di Maria, who had no real interest in joining United and fell out with Van Gaal, leaving for Paris Saint-Germain after one hugely disappointing season.

The following year more mistakes were made as £42m was spent on a 19-year-old Anthony Martial and £35m splashed out on Morgan Schneiderlin. Bastian Schweinsteiger arrived for £9m, but the German was on huge wages and his physical powers were fading. It was rinse and repeat until United finally appointed their first ever sporting director in 2021, but rather than hiring a renowned transfer expert, they decided to promote John Murtough from within. Murtough had joined the club from Everton with Moyes.

Yash Dhull, bowlers help India start with win; Zimbabwe crush PNG by 228 runs

UAE and Ireland also tasted victories to kick off their campaigns, defeating Canada and Uganda, respectively

Sreshth Shah16-Jan-2022
India’s captain Yash Dhull impressed with his batting and catching to help his side seal a 45-run win over South Africa. However, the game was closer than what the scorecard would suggest, with South Africa capitulating in the final third of the chase. And making most of their collapse was left-arm spinner Vicky Ostwal, who took three lower-order wickets to finish with 5 for 28.In pursuit of 233, South Africa needed 100 to win in the last 15 overs with seven wickets in hand. At that stage, both Dewald Brevis, who top-scored with 65, and captain George Van Heerden were set at the crease. But South Africa went on to lose their next five wickets for only 20 runs, a collapse triggered by Brevis’ dismissal.Nicknamed ‘Baby AB’, No. 3 Brevis showed off his range of shots with six fours and two sixes, but was caught by Dhull while diving forward at mid-off off right-arm seamer Raj Bawa. Bawa, who had conceded 17 runs in his first over, was bowling his second spell when he prised out Brevis’ wicket in the 36th over, and followed it up with Van Heerden’s dismissal, eventually finishing with 4 for 47.However, Bawa was not the standout bowler. India’s bowling effort was controlled by their two left-arm spinners Nishant Sindhu and Ostwal. Although Sindhu went wicketless, he conceded only 22 runs in his quota of ten overs, while Ostwal’s five-wicket haul came at an economy of 2.80.South Africa’s chase had started off with opener Ethan-John Cunningham out lbw to a beautiful length delivery from seamer Rajvardhan Hangargekar. It nipped in and trapped Cunningham while he shouldered arms. Ostwal then removed the dangerous-looking Valentine Kitime for 25 with a ball spinning away that took the right-hander’s outside edge to wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana, and took his second when Gerhardus Maree edged another one behind.Brevis and Van Heerden then began South Africa’s recovery from a score of 83 for 3, but consumed too many dots, scoring just 55 runs in a partnership that lasted 91 deliveries. Most of those overs were bowled by the two left-arm spinners who put in the choke. Yet, with seven wickets standing and the required run rate a manageable 6.67 in the last 15 overs, it was still doable for South Africa.Dewald Brevis’ 65 went in vain for South Africa Under-19•ICC via Getty ImagesThat is when Bawa got in their way to remove Brevis. Ostwal too returned, rattlling Michael Copeland’s stumps, and going on to dismiss Kadence Sullivan and Matthew Boast as well. Dhull, earlier India’s hero with the bat, took the final catch in the 46th over to complete India’s 45-run victory. But during India’s innings, South Africa’s left-arm seamer Aphiwe Mnyanda had given his side a promising start. He got both openers Harnoor Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi lbw early on, taking advantage of the moisture that was around following some pre-match rain.At 11 for 2, Dhull joined his vice-captain Shaik Rasheed, who scored 31, and despite the early jolts, batted positively to keep the scoreboard ticking with a 71-run third-wicket stand.Dhull played exquisite cuts off the back foot, and crunched cover drives through the gaps to balls that had width. And when the No. 5 Sindhu began with a flurry of boundaries, Dhull briefly took the back seat, but the partnership broke when Sindhu was stumped off Copeland for a 25-ball 27.At that stage, India were 126 for 4 in the 27th over, but Dhull was growing in confidence after going past fifty. He struck 11 fours in all and looked set for a century, offering no real chance to the South Africa bowlers. But that changed in the 39th over when he looked for a single that wasn’t there, and while trying to turn back, was out via a direct hit from point.Kaushal Tambe then took over, contributing 35 after a slow start to his innings. However, he was out while trying to cut to point off Boast. Next ball, Boast took his third when Hangargekar fell for a duck with India in danger of not batting the entire 50 overs. And that is what ultimately happened when Ostwal chipped a half-tracker back to legspinner Brevis with India’s score at 232.In the end, though, the 19 deliveries that India did not face did not end up hurting them. Their superior run rate on a two-paced and spinning surface proved too much for South Africa.Ali Naseer hit 73 in just 50 deliveries•ICC via Getty Images
Group A started off with United Arab Emirates riding on the back of seventies from Punya Mehra and Ali Naseer to defeat Canada by 49 runs in Basseterre.Batting first, they put on 70 for the fifth wicket after UAE were 104 for 4 at one stage, and once Mehra was out for 71, Naseer brought out the big shots, including four sixes and five fours, to score 73 in just 50 deliveries. He combined with Nilansh Keswani, who scored 39, in a 69-run sixth-wicket stand as UAE added 92 runs in the last nine-and-a-half overs before Naseer was the last man out in the final over with the total at 284.Canada had three significant batting contributions, with their captain Mihir Patel leading from the front with a 105-ball 96, while opener Anoop Chima made 46 and No. 8 Kairav Sharma scored 43. But with only one other batter crossing double digits, they fell well short, bowled out for 235 in the 47th over.Keswani contributed with the ball too, taking 2 for 32 with his left-arm spin. Legspinner Adithya Shetty grabbed two middle-order wickets, and seam-bowling allrounder Alishan Sharafu dismissed Mihir and Kairav.
In Port of Spain, a century from their captain Emmanuel Bawa and a collective effort from the bowlers helped Zimbabwe crush Papua New Guinea by 228 runs.Batting first, Bawa’s 95-ball 100 – that included ten fours and two sixes – set the tone for others around him to help Zimbabwe post 321. Opener Panashe Taruvinga scored a patient 36, but the rest of the batters went at a much quicker clip. David Bennett scored 58 in 53 balls, Brian Bennett struck a quick-fire 23, Connor Mitchell smacked a run-a-ball 35 and, in the death overs, No. 10 Victor Chirwa cracked a 16-ball 35. Albeit expensive, PNG’s Rasan Kevau took three wickets in ten overs. In response, however, PNG were all out for 93 in 35 overs, their highest partnership reading 23 and their highest individual score being 15. Ngenyasha Zvinoera, Brian Bennett and Chirwa took two wickets each, with one apiece from Tendekai Mataranyika and Mitchell.
In the other Group B match of the day, Ireland’s wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Cox struck an unbeaten 111 to set up a 39-run win over Uganda. Uganda rode on their captain Pascal Murungi’s innings of 63 to stay in contention of the 237-run target, but eventually fell short as a result of four wickets from Ireland’s left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys.Batting first, Ireland had lost four wickets before even crossing 100, but Cox’s 59-run fifth-wicket stand with Philippus le Roux, who got 32, started their recovery. Even though wickets fell around him, Cox at No. 4 stayed undefeated in an innings of eight fours and one six to take Ireland to 236 in the end.In the chase, Humphreys began Uganda’s downfall with two wickets in third over, dismissing both openers cheaply. In the 29th over, he got Pius Olaba to reduce Uganda to 97 for 6. And with Murungi being the lone man standing between Ireland and a win, Humphreys sent him back too in the 42nd over with an lbw. Even though Juna Miyaji hit a 21-ball 38 from No. 9 for Uganda, Ireland seamer Muzamil Sherzad returned in his last spell to clean up the last two wickets to give Ireland the two points.

Shamarh Brooks sparkles on ODI debut as West Indies go 1-0 up

Ireland stay in the hunt courtesy Balbirnie and Tector, but fall short by 24 runs in the end

ESPNcricinfo staff09-Jan-2022
Shamarh Brooks hit 93 off 89 on ODI debut as West Indies recovered from a shaky start to beat Ireland by 24 runs in the first ODI of a three-match series.Choosing to field at Sabina Park in Kingston, Ireland’s bowlers had the home team in early trouble, with West Indies slipping to 62 for 4 in 19 overs. They had started steadily, being 59 for 1 at one point, though the run rate dawdled at the three-and-a-half mark. But three wickets fell in the space of 2.2 overs, and captain Kieron Pollard strode out to join the debuting Brooks, who had come in at No. 4.Together, the two put on 155 runs in just 136 balls, having begun cautiously given the rush of wickets, but opening out as the partnership progressed. Brooks reached his half-century in 61 balls at the end of the 36th over, and Pollard hit a hat-trick of sixes against Andy McBrine to go from 41 off 49 to 59 off 52. The over went for 23 runs, Brooks also finding the boundary later on.Ireland fined, docked points

Ireland have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their loss to West Indies in the first ODI, and have been fined 40% of their match fees as a result. Ireland were adjudged to be two overs short of the target in the game and, therefore, were also docked two points from their Super League tally.

Pollard had begun his acceleration earlier, but eventually fell for a 66-ball 69, caught at long-on in an attempt to hit his fifth six.Brooks fell seven short of his hundred, missing out on becoming only the second West Indies player to score a century on ODI debut after Desmond Haynes, when he was trapped lbw by Mark Adair in the 45th over. Some meaty hits by Odean Smith pushed West Indies past 250, but wickets continued to fall and they were bowled out in 48.5 overs.Ireland lost former captain William Porterfield for a duck in the second over, but captain Andy Balbirnie, the other opener, and Harry Tector, at No. 4, did well to keep Ireland on track. Ireland did have another hiccup before the two got together, though, as McBrine was forced to retire hurt when he and Balbirnie had got a good second-wicket partnership going. McBrine copped a blow on the helmet from Smith in the 16th over, and went off at the end of the next. He had a concussion and Ireland had to bring in Neil Rock at No. 9 as a substitute.Balbirnie and McBrine had added 61 in 91 balls before McBrine went off, looking set on 34 off 50. However, Ireland’s momentum didn’t stall as Tector allied with Balbirnie for an even bigger stand.Ireland were well in control at 165 for 1 in 36 overs, with 105 needed in 84 balls and both batters having passed half-centuries, but Romario Shepherd then had Balbirnie edging behind for 71 off 94. In the next over, Smith had Tector caught at third man off a slash for a 68-ball 53, and Ireland had two new men at the crease. The wickets fell in a heap after that, and although George Dockrell (30 off 25) and Mark Adair (21* off 9) hit out, no other batter got into double-digits.Ireland were eventually bowled out in 49.1 overs.

London club approach Chelsea to sign £62m ace in "transformative deal"

A London-based club have now approached Chelsea over signing one of their most expensive players in what could be a potentially “transformative deal”.

The two most likely players to depart Enzo Maresca’s side, as per reports in the last few weeks, are left-back Ben Chilwell and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka – who have both been deemed surplus to requirements by the Italian.

Chilwell and Chukwuemeka have both played under an hour in total across all competitions, with Chelsea ready to cut their losses on the pair as January looms.

Chelsea are encouraging teams to move for Chilwell, who is attracting interest from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, while reliable journalist Simon Phillips reported this week that Ipswich Town have made an enquiry over signing Chukwuemeka in January.

“Ipswich Town are showing a keen interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka,” wrote Phillips.

“In fact, we have heard that they have already made an enquiry about the player’s availability for January. Chukwuemeka wants to play football, so he will listen to any approaches now. He had approaches in the summer but ideally wanted to stay in England, and again, ideally in London.

“AC Milan and Barcelona have also both expressed an interest in the Blues midfielder. Chelsea will sell him for the right price, and they might even consider a loan to buy deal in January that will see the player leave in the summer.

“Sources are unsure at this point the nature of the enquiry from Ipswich, whether it is a loan or a permanent approach, because it is just an initial enquiry to see if the player is available in January, which he will be. But I’d suspect it would be some sort of loan to buy deal for now. Chelsea will listen.”

Other players linked with the exit door including Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman is attracting rumoured interest from Man United, and it is believed Nkunku is tempted by the possibility of making an Old Trafford move (Football Insider).

Palace approach Chelsea over signing Mykhailo Mudryk

Despite his use in cup competitions and some impressive showings as of late, reports continue to link Mykhailo Mudryk with a January exit as well.

The Ukranian, signed for an initial £62 million, has failed to justify that price tag so far and faces stiff competition for a consistent place in Chelsea’s attacking line-up.

Football Transfers write Palace have approached Chelsea over signing Mudryk on loan in the winter, which could be a potentially “transformative deal” for Glasner’s side as they look to climb up the Premier League table.

The 23-year-old dazzled at Shakhtar Donetsk before making the switch to Stamford Bridge, and has displayed his ability on the odd occasion, but BlueCo will be very keen for him to kick on and perhaps a temporary move elsewhere could be best for him.

Picking up the ball 15 yards inside his own half on the left wing, Bellingham orchestrated a stunning long pass that found Los Blancos team-mate Endrick. The 18-year-old took the ball down expertly with his first touch before slotting it past the goalkeeper, which turned out to be the only strike of the game, helping Real Madrid claim a slender 1-0 lead in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.

While Bellingham’s contribution on the pitch was extraordinary, his personal life has recently been thrust into the spotlight, thanks to online trolls targeting his girlfriend, Ashlyn Castro. The American model faced a barrage of criticism following a baseless hoax involving a website purported to be an escort service.

The controversy started when a user on social media shared an image of a profile from a site called "DynastySeries.com," claiming it belonged to Castro. The website was allegedly linked to luxury escort services, and fans quickly connected the dots, with some erroneously suggesting that Castro had been involved with such sites.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

However, this theory was debunked when photographer Brian Parker stepped in. He clarified that the photos used on the site had been taken during a previous shoot with Castro. Parker expressed his frustration over the situation, saying, "Ashlyn has never been associated with adult websites like you're claiming. All of these so-called 'never before seen photos' are public and have been on Instagram where anyone can see & save the photos for whatever. It's common sense."
